Zing!

Zing is an a cappella quartet affiliated with Sweet Adelines International.  Zing! was crowned the 2010 International Quartet Champions in Nashville, Tennessee.   Members hail from Kansas and Oklahoma, and they are proud members of Sweet Adeline Regions 7 & 25.  Zing! is dedicated to the art of barbershop harmony.

MICHELLE HUNGET - Tenor

Michelle lives in Lenexa, Kansas and has been singing barbershop since high school. In her "other life," she is a nurse, working as the Director of the Family Care Center at Providence Hospital in Kansas City. She is a member of the Kansas City Chorus. Michelle has been in numerous Internationally competitive quartets dating back to 1992; she is the only tenor in region 7 to win the regional contest 8 times!  Her family includes Grant, (husband and life-long barbershopper), her teenage son and daughter, who have also won awards singing barbershop.  Michelle's daughter won her first medal singing in a quartet with her grandmother.  It's a family of singers.  You might think that, with all these singers in the family, they sing together.  Well, they do! They just need an invitation to blow the pitch pipe to break into song.

SUSAN IVES - Lead

Susan is a resident of Tecumseh, Kansas, just east of Topeka. She and her husband, Scott, have two college age children.  Susan is a music teacher with over 30 years of experience educating our future musicians. In her non-business life, she loves directing the Acappella Unlimited Chorus (formerly Sunflower Harmony) in Topeka.  She started her barbershop hobby in 1981 in this chorus, and she has ably handled the position of director for almost 20 years. Her quartet experience began in 1984, winning her first regional quartet contest. Susan won her first crown singing lead with the 1998 International Champion Quartet, Classic Edition.

MARY RHEA  - Baritone

Mary and her husband Russ live in Norman, Oklahoma, so they can be close to their beloved University of Oklahoma Sooners.  She directs the OK City Chorus. Being a Navy wife has given Mary the opportunity to live in many places and sing with some fantastic choruses: Gem City, Greater Harrisburg, Pacific Sound,

P-Heart of Hessen (Germany), and Pride of Baltimore. When Russ retired, they landed permanently in Oklahoma.  She is an Approved Judge in the Sound Category, serves on the Region 25 faculty, and the Education Steering Committee, member of the International Faculty and International Director Education Coordinators. When she has time, Mary works as a physical therapist.  Mary and Russ have two kids (Michael and Kirsten) and two dogs. They are enjoying farming the 0.011 acre plot at their new house.

MELYNNIE WILLIAMS - Bass

Melynnie and her husband, Tom, live in Newton, Kansas. They have 3 daughters:  one in medical school, one in college and the youngest in high school.  Mel, as we call her, sings with the Oklahoma Jubilee Chorus in Tulsa, OK.  She started singing barbershop in 1994, and she knew that bass was the part she wanted to sing!  Zing! is Mel's second quartet.  In her spare time, Mel is involved in several women's and community organizations, and she serves on the board of the local community theatre. She also volunteers for the Fine Arts Booster Club and is a Drama Representative at her daughter's high school.  Mel sings in their church choir and serves as a Contemporary Worship Leader with her youngest daughter.  In the summer, she likes to perform and sing in musical theatre.   As you can tell, music is a very important part of her life!
